How does the EU give priority to the increasing number of cases of eye infections or complications associated with the deregulated, non-prescribed sale and distribution of contact lenses in its proposed revision of the Medical Devices Directive?

Finally, in light of this, does the Commission intend to study the health and safety risks associated with the non-professional, non-prescribed sale and distribution of contact lenses, since complications associated with the use of contact lenses are increasingly a major public health concern across Europe, notably with Internet sales coming of age?
