Slot allocation at Community airports and regional connectivity

WRITTEN QUESTION E-1839/08
by Arūnas Degutis (ALDE)
to the Commission

The European Commission plans to formally recognise secondary trading of slots at Community airports under the revised version of Regulation (EC) No 793/2004[1].

Increasing connectivity between European regions is the central tenet around which European regional policy revolves. Air transport access to major European centres is vital for regions in attracting international investment and tourism as well as maintaining regional economic and social growth.

Given that regional airports are the key facilitator of this regional connectivity, can the Commission confirm what, if any, measures it plans to implement to minimise the impact of secondary trading on regional airports?
