Commission reception and recruitment centre in Mali

WRITTEN QUESTION E-1751/09
by Frank Vanhecke (NI)
to the Commission

The answer to my parliamentary question of 20 November 2007 (E‑5764/07) indicated that the tasks of the Commission's centre for migration and information[1] in Mali include ‘welcom[ing], inform[ing], guid[ing] and accompany[ing] potential migrants and returning migrants’.

Can the Commission inform me how many potential migrants have already been welcomed, informed and guided about employment opportunities in EU Member States? How many people have as a result actually emigrated to the EU and how many people are expected to migrate in future? How many family members accompany them to Europe and have already moved there? Can the Commission also indicate what occupations are involved, in absolute numbers and proportionally?
