Article 7 of Regulation (EC) 1080/2006 on the European Regional Development Fund, which governs the eligibility of expenditure for energy efficiency and renewable energy in housing, provides that expenditure on housing is eligible — in particular expenditure linked to energy efficiency and renewable energy — for Member States which acceded to the EU after May 2004.

In which sectors have the opportunities offered by Article 7 of the regulation in question been used most extensively and what funding was granted both as an overall sum and per Member State during the period 2004‑08?

Has the Commission evaluated the take-up of funds provided under the regulation in question and what obstacles arose in implementing these actions?
