WRITTEN QUESTION E-3049/09
by Stavros Arnaoutakis (PSE)
to the Commission
The small inhabited islands of Agistri, Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, Kythira and Antikythira form part of the region of Attica. Although the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) was launched 27 months ago, the region of Attica has not announced one single project relating to those islands.
Given the EU's desire to support policies designed, inter alia, to develop the islands and the fact that these islands exhibit all the typical features of exclusion, difficulty of access, and low competitiveness indicators, which are being exacerbated by the crisis, will the Commission say:
- 1.what amount and what percentage of the regional operational programme (ROP) for Attica (under the NSRF) have been spent on these islands to date, and
- 2.what measures it will take, in the context of monitoring the 2007‑13 ROP for Attica, to ensure that the region of Attica complies with the EU's general policy guidelines for island regions?
