by José Ribeiro e Castro (PPE‑DE)
to the Commission
A controversy (or ‘dialogue of the deaf’) is currently under way in Portugal concerning the funds not utilised by that Member State over the current term of office of the Commission and Parliament (the sixth parliamentary term), i.e. 2004‑09, in the areas relating to agriculture (the CAP, rural development and others).
Can the Commission:
- —state what sums were not utilised out of those made available by the Community to Portugal in 2005 in the areas relating to agriculture (the CAP, rural development and others), and what sums were accordingly returned by Portugal to Brussels and not charged to the Community budget;
- —state from what date those sums were definitively considered as lost to Portugal;
- —provide a breakdown of the unused amounts for each of the budget headings or Community programmes concerned?
