Presentation of ambassadors' credentials to the President of the European Council

Since the 1960s, ambassadors of third countries accredited to the European Union have presented their credentials both to the President of the Commission and to the President of the Council. Now that the European Council is a separate institution and has its own full-time president, would it not be appropriate and simpler for ambassadors to present their credentials to the President of the European Council
