Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on Cosmetic Products requires that a full technical file or product information file (PIF) for a cosmetic product be readily accessible in electronic or other format, at the address indicated on the label of the product, to the competent authority of the Member State in which the file is kept.

I have been contacted by a number of constituents who are concerned that it does not stipulate that this information should be publicly available. I believe this information should be transparent and publicly available to allow consumers to make informed choices about the cosmetic products that they purchase.

What will the Commission do to encourage more public access to product information files?
