According to international NGOs, at least 258 people were detained without trial in India under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act 1978 (PSA) between March 2010 and May 2011.

What pressure is the EU putting upon authorities in Jammu, India to respect the rights of those who are detained indefinitely under the PSA?

Many prisoners are held without charges being substantiated and despite release orders being issued by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir. Has the Commission sought to raise its concerns about these violations of civil and human rights?
