VP/HR — Case of Omar Daoudi

Question for written answer E-004825-14
to the Commission (Vice-President/High Representative)
Rule 117
Ana Gomes (S&D)

Omar Daoudi, a Saharawi political prisoner detained at Tiznit prison in Morocco, has been on a hunger strike since 27 February 2014, demanding to be transferred to the prison in which political prisoners are detained. His health condition is serious, but according to members of his family he has been denied medical assistance, in breach of several conventions and treaties ratified by the Kingdom of Morocco which relate to prisoners and human rights.

Has the VP/HR urged the Moroccan authorities to take immediate action to ensure that Omar Daoudi has access to proper medical treatment, and that he is released immediately should his imprisonment prove to be illegal?
