Alcohol consumption in Europe

According to a recent report by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, alcohol remains the number one substance that endangers lives on European roads, with around 28 000 lives lost each year in Europe due to ‘drinking and driving’.

In view of these figures, what measures does the Commission aim to take to try and combat the problem? Does the Commission intend to raise awareness and create programmes to help Member States tackle the issue?
