The Commission’s kind response to the question submitted by MEPs Juan Carlos Girauta and Javier Nart (E-006808/2014) states the obvious: that the two countries have economic relations. The question was more specific than that and is extremely relevant; it concerns Russia’s shift towards an axis with China as a result of the conflict with the EU. It is very surprising that the answer given ignored this crucial element in favour of a generic explanation. What is more, China’s position in the UN Security Council is important, especially in view of its stance on Sudan.
