Revision of risk assessments relating to GMO risk assessment review

The Council conclusions adopted at the meeting of the Council of Environment Ministers in December 2008 considered it a top priority to revise the GMO risk assessment system and make it more stringent. These measures have not yet been taken.

Please note also that Jean-Claude Juncker, the newly elected President of the Commission, said in July 2014 that he would like to revise the regulations for licensing genetically modified organisms.

In view of the foregoing, how long will it take the Commission to revise environmental risk assessment, a key issue in the GMO licensing system, and make it more stringent?
