The EU promotes programmes to help older people stay active in their communities by recognising some of the best initiatives. A wide variety of programmes across the EU support older people in their desire to continue contributing to society after retirement.

1. What programmes are there which encourage the youth population to engage in society?

2. Is the Commission considering the idea of creating special funds that actively encourage young unemployed people to start their own businesses?

3. Would the idea of creating a European database of unemployed young people be of interest to the Commission?
