In 2012 the European Union adopted Directive 2012/29/EU, which acknowledged that victims of crime deserve specific protection during the course of legal proceedings if the crime was linked to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Could the Commission reaffirm its commitment to enforcing the directive throughout the Member States, thereby ensuring its effectiveness?
