It is extremely important to have a level playing field in the EU for our family-owned companies and businesses in the agricultural and other sectors.
It is also essential to have as much support as possible for EU nature legislation for effective conservation of habitats and species.
In view of this, and in response to the Commission’s answer of 11 December 2014, I would like to ask the following additional questions:
- 1.What criteria are used to determine whether the legislation is being implemented correctly where there are differences in implementation among Member States?
- 2.What method will the Commission use during the fitness check to evaluate thoroughly whether the implementation of the birds and habitats directives in the Netherlands has taken sufficient account of ‘economic, social and cultural requirements and regional and local characteristics’ (Article 2(3) Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC)?
