ESI funds and co-financing

Question for written answer E-011286-14
to the Commission
Rule 130
Claudia Schmidt (PPE)

In the spirit of sustainable cohesion policy, it would be desirable to give complete support to projects in regions that are less developed, in order to achieve economic and social upswing. A major hurdle for successful cohesion policy is co-financing; a consequence can be that the cohesion policy in some countries does have the financial resources available from the EU side, but is unable to use them fully because neither private nor state investments are available.

Does the Commission have plans to reshape the cohesion policy in future specifically in the less developed regions? If yes, what form do these plans take?
