József Nagy (PPE)

Facilitation of further debate within the EU on the questions of history and identity serves as a means of strengthening the European community and advancing European integration.

Such debates contribute to overcoming the shadows of the past, foster mutual understanding between nations and can serve as a tool for reconciliation between European nations.

There are several good examples that prove that a mutually accepted common understanding of historical events contributes to reconciliation and builds mutual trust between different national communities.

1. What commitments are being made at EU level towards the achievement of these goals?

2. Are any institutions involved in the development of these goals or is research being conducted on such topics?

3. What kind of fora could the EU offer for such debates to facilitate smoother communication between stakeholders?
