We ask the Commissioner to consider the proposal made by the Polish Government and local authorities to include innovative education centres in the regional Operational Programmes and fund them from the EU budget for 2014-2020. This was the case with previous regional Operational Programmes, resulting in three such centres being established in Poland. Innovative education centres are a new form of education aimed primarily at children and adolescents. They help to improve and promote the educational process, particularly in the sciences. The idea behind the innovative education centres is to popularise science, technology and culture and everything that has been achieved in these spheres.

The centres also encourage young people to become involved in initiatives which popularise science, technical knowledge and protection of the environment and cultural heritage. They also disseminate modern educational methods which use experimentation as a means of acquiring knowledge, which helps students to understand the processes involved and stimulates a curiosity about the world. These centres offer experimental learning to pupils which helps in the development of key competencies under the Partnership Agreement (e.g. numeracy, mathematics, science).

In view of the huge importance of innovative education centres to Poland, we would like to ask whether you can intervene in this matter.
