Bureaucratic obstacles to participation in Erasmus+ programme

Question for written answer E-001075-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Ilhan Kyuchyuk (ALDE)

The Erasmus+ programme aims to boost skills and employability and to modernise education, training and youth work. It also aims to provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain work experience and volunteer abroad.

However, the reality is that many young people are unwilling to participate in Erasmus+ because of the programme’s bureaucracy. Those who do decide to take part in the programme experience many difficulties and inconveniences for the same reason.

1. What measures has the Commission taken so far to reduce the administrative burden?

2. What further measures will the Commission take in order to overcome the programme’s bureaucratic issues?
