Criminal gangs' activities

Question for written answer E-001507-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Roberta Metsola (PPE)

Recent news reports have highlighted a growing trend in some of Europe’s major cities, including London, Glasgow and Marseille, in which criminal gangs use government housing as havens for prostitution and for the sale of illicit drugs and firearms. The same gangs also make use of numerous schemes to ensure that the tenants they evicted are granted a new government property.

Is the Commission aware of this growing trend? What assistance can Europol offer its national counterparts to facilitate information-sharing and raise awareness of the latest schemes used in the Member States?
