Help for those seeking employment in other EU countries

Question for written answer E-001631-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Gabriel Mato (PPE)

The European Union has various mechanisms for helping people to find work in Member States other than their country of residence. For example, the EURES (European Employment Services) Portal was set up in order to assist those wishing to work abroad and to familiarise them with their rights.

Since its launch, EURES has helped both jobseekers and businesses by providing information and advice so as to allow candidates and recruiters to find one another more easily from anywhere in Europe.

However, its role has now become even more important in view of the high unemployment rates across many EU countries.

What is the Commission’s assessment of the work achieved by EURES to date, and what plans does it have for improving this service and increasing its efficiency in terms of the tasks assigned to it?

What new measures are planned for increasing job mobility within the EU?
