Mediterranean Corridor II

Question for written answer E-001853-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Ramon Tremosa i Balcells (ALDE)

On 19 October 2011, the Commission approved a proposal for a regulation on Union guidelines for the development of the Trans-European transport network (TEN-T), No COM(2011)0650.

Ferrmed is warning that the works on the Mediterranean corridor are delayed. It has therefore sent a report to the European Commission, stating that the stretch between Almería and the French border will be operational in 2017.[1]

The Chairman of Ferrmed is calling for the formation of an international government committee to monitor the project and check that it is proceeding ‘in a coordinated manner’.

In this regard, he has also said that he is giving thought, from the outset, to how to manage this infrastructure.

What is the Commission’s opinion on this subject?
