On 25 July 2014, I asked the Commission (P-006100/2014) about a possible fraud concerning public funds for training courses to promote employment in Andalusia, Spain. The Spanish Fiscal and Economic Crime Unit (UDEF) is currently detaining about a hundred people in Málaga, Almería and Cádiz for misappropriation of these funds; among those detained are politicians, civil servants and businessmen.
I am aware of the procedure laid down by the Commission for investigating possible fraud involving EU funds, and I therefore ask the following questions:
- 1.Have the Spanish authorities requested ESF reimbursement under the national or regional operational programmes for the period 2007-2013?
- 2.Have they provided the Commission with certification of expenditure connected with the aforementioned activities, thus putting the EU budget at risk?
