On 27 October 2014, workers employed by Cleanet, the firm responsible for cleaning the Spanish Ministry of Defence premises in Ferrol, came out on strike for an indefinite period because the firm has not paid their wages since August 2014.
Despite this, the Ministry of Defence continues to pay Cleanet. Given the firm’s abuse of its workers and the Ministry of Defence’s failure to find a solution, can the Commission answer the following questions:
- —Is there any European legislation that prevents a public institution (in this case, the Spanish Ministry of Defence) from paying workers direct in situations such as this?
