Reduction in pedestrian deaths on Europe's roads

Question for written answer E-003943-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Gabriel Mato (PPE) , Carlos Iturgaiz (PPE)

Of almost 30 000 victims who die each year on Europe’s roads, 21% are pedestrians, with most of the deaths occurring in urban surroundings.

There is therefore a need to adopt measures at European Union level to improve the safety of the most vulnerable road users.

What actions is the Commission taking to improve road safety training and prevention in the EU?

What specific measures does it propose for reducing pedestrian deaths?
