In Europe’s primary tourist destinations the adoption by municipalities of the obligation to impose a visitors' tax on travellers is becoming more and more common.

1. Does the Commission deem this tax to be compatible with European legislation on competition?

2. What initiatives has the Commission taken to ascertain the extent of application of this measure and the economic impact thereof?
