116 000 emergency hotline: solving the funding difficulties

Question for written answer E-006679-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Tomáš Zdechovský (PPE)

The 116 000 hotline for vulnerable children, which is obligatory under EC law and operational in nearly all the 28 Member States, was supported by the Commission's Daphne programme from 2012 to 2014. This financial aid was withdrawn at the end of 2014, however, and the hotline — which is dependent on EU funding — has fallen into serious financial difficulties.

The Commission has said that it will find another source of funding. Has it determined whether new funds can be made available for the hotline, which forms part of the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme?
