Rule 130
Lefteris Christoforou (PPE)
Increasing waves of immigrants trying to enter the Mediterranean Member States, such as Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta and so forth, as a result of the volatile situation in Middle Eastern and African countries is putting an enormous strain on those countries, which are not equipped financially or technically to deal with this huge humanitarian crisis.
In view of the above, will the Commission say:
- — How does it intend to support these countries in managing this immigration crisis in the Mediterranean?
- — Does it intend to support those countries using modern means such as ships, aircraft and so forth, as that is the only way they will be able to withstand the pressure caused by immigration in the Mediterranean?
