German and British lorries and environmental conservation

Question for written answer E-008486-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Hugues Bayet (S&D)

A 2014-registered lorry emits an average of 169.2 grams of CO2 per kilometre. That is 6 grams less than the quantity set under the EU targets for 2017.

Apparently these good general results do not apply to all Member States. Germany and the UK alone account for 36% of truck and van sales in 2014, and their buyers chose models which significantly exceed the European targets set for 2017.

In this situation, does the Commission plan to take any initiatives to achieve a uniform reduction in the environmental impact of road haulage?
