Delay by the Commission in answering the Written Questions tabled by MEPs

According to Rule 130 of the Rules of Procedure, questions for written answer are an instrument used by the Members of the European Parliament to ensure information and control vis-à-vis the President of the European Council, the Council, the Commission and the Vice-President of the Commission/High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

According to Rule 130(5), such questions may be tabled by one or more Members and must be answered within six weeks of notification of the institution concerned. Questions which require an immediate answer but not detailed research (priority questions) shall be answered within three weeks of being forwarded to the addressees.

1. Why is the Commission taking more than three months to answer the Written Questions tabled by MEPs?

2. What measures will the Commission take in order to enable it to promptly answer the Written Questions tabled by MEPs?
