The fact that a great many infringements of property rights are committed for business purposes, and the burgeoning role being played by organised crime groups in those infringements, are presenting a major problem.

We can but lament that the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime (The Palermo Convention) has still not been supplemented with a protocol on counterfeiting.

What is the Commission’s position on this matter and what action is it taking in this specific area?
