• On 20 June a peace agreement was signed in Mali and ratified by all the affected parties in that country, under the supervision of the High Representative and the EU’s Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development

This peace deal is intimately related to an EU development aid programme for Mali, which will run over the 2014-2020 period, in exchange for the respect of the parties implicated in the peace agreement.

On the basis of this agreement the EU and Mali’s Government have committed themselves to work on various priority areas over the next 6 years.

What expectations does the European Union have in regard to this peace agreement?

Does the High Representative intend to visit the country soon to check on the progress and development of the agreement?
