Hugues Bayet (S&D)

On Monday, 22 June, the EU foreign ministers approved the launch of the new operation against traffickers of illegal migrants off the coast of Libya (EUNAVFOR Med).

According to our information, nine countries will be contributing directly to the operation: Italy, the UK, Belgium, Slovenia, Greece, Luxembourg, Spain, France and Finland.

Why are so few European countries taking part in this European operation?

On what basis do they justify their non-participation?
