In July 2015, the Commission put forward a proposed list of projects eligible for financing under the transport call for proposals for the Connecting Europe Facility, a procedure which has been allocated EUR 11.9 billion to fund projects to improve ‘core corridors’ in the trans-European transport network

The project for platform works on the high-speed rail link between Lubián and Ourense (2014-ES-TM-0471-W) was not selected on the grounds of ‘budgetary restrictions’ although its quality, its impact and the fact that it was in line with the priorities of the call, were stressed.

Could the Commission provide more information on its grounds for excluding this project, given that EUR 45.3 million was requested in co-financing and the budget of the call is EUR 11.9 billion?

Could the Commission say whether the Government of Spain has appealed against this decision and whether it could be reconsidered?
