Package of support measures for farmers in the dairy and pigmeat sectors

Commissioner Phil Hogan set out the details of a support package for European farmers to the agriculture ministers of the EU Member States and to the European Parliament this week.

The division of the package, worth EUR 500 million, was announced as a fair, targeted and effective means to help resolve the problems facing the dairy and pigmeat sectors.

Given that Croatia, which is the EU's newest Member State and which is struggling with an unprecedented crisis in the agricultural sector that is becoming more severe and extensive, particularly in the dairy and pigmeat sectors, has been allocated a mere 1.8% of the total foreseen funds, could the Commission say what information and criteria guided its determination of the percentage of funds that would be allocated to individual Member States?
