to the Commission
Rule 130
Ilhan Kyuchyuk (ALDE)

The importance of the Internet as a tool for communication, networking and social interaction has dramatically increased in recent years. At the same time, the Internet has become a platform that is actively used for manifestations of hate which have the potential to incite violence and hate crimes.

Manifestations of racism and xenophobia on the Internet keep increasing despite rules aimed at tackling this issue.

Hate speech and incitement to hatred on the Internet are completely incompatible with the values and principles upon which the EU is founded.

1. How does the Commission combat the incitement to hatred on the Internet?

2. What measures are being taken by the Commission to explore this issue further and to identify effective responses to the phenomenon of online hate?
