VP/HR — Protection of Christians in the Middle East
20.1.2016
Question for written answer E-000409-16
to the Commission (Vice-President/High Representative)
Rule 130
Aymeric Chauprade (NI)
Since 1915, Christians in the Middle East have been beset by tragedy.
Today, in 2016, threatened with extinction in Iraq and Syria, Christian communities are placing their last hopes in support from the people of Europe. Unfortunately, the leaders of the European institutions are showing a complete indifference to the tragic plight of eastern Christians, which even includes discrimination and attacks on refugee camps here in Europe.
Can the High Representative outline her action plan for ending discrimination against, and persecution of, Christians, and for strengthening the protection of minorities in the Middle East?
