Ukraine crisis

Question for written answer E-001162-16
to the Commission
Rule 130
Monica Macovei (ECR)

Violence is omnipresent in Ukraine, while major UN aid agencies face a massive shortage of funds as winter approaches. NGOs have been trying to provide aid and relief, but this is not nearly enough.

The World Food Programme (WFP) has provided hundreds of thousands of civilians with resources by distributing food parcels and vouchers to the worst-affected areas of Ukraine. However, the organisation does not have enough resources to support the thousands in need in the near future. A total of around EUR 21 million is needed to ensure that support continues for the next couple of months.

What is the Commission going to do to help these NGOs and increase its support to Ukraine?
