Infringement procedures regarding gaming and gambling

Question for written answer E-002098-16
to the Commission
Rule 130
Christofer Fjellner (PPE)

In November 2013 the Commission sent official requests for information on national legislation restricting the supply of gambling services to, among others, Belgium, Cyprus, Lithuania and Poland.

What action has the Commission taken to ensure that the national gaming and gambling legislation of Belgium, Cyprus, Lithuania and Poland is compliant with EC law?

What action will the Commission take to ensure that the legislation of these Member States becomes compliant with EC law if this is not already the case?

On 1 July 2014, the so-called gentlemen's agreement between the Commission and Germany expired.

After reviewing a report by Germany, did the Commission conclude that the German states' legislation on gaming and gambling is compliant with EC law?

In light of the results of the agreement with Germany, will the Commission consider using similar agreements in future cases instead of regular infringement procedures?
