Question for written answer E-002499-16

Rule 130

The regional German broadcaster SWR, citing the ‘conclusions of police investigations’, has reported that Salah Abdeslam hired a car in Brussels, using his own name, and travelled to the southern German city of Ulm on the night of 2-3 October 2015, where he fetched three possible accomplices from a refugee centre.

— How does the Commission assess the conclusions of the police investigations in the context of European asylum policy?

— With regard to the fight against terrorism and the exchange of information between the authorities in different Member States, how does the Commission assess the importance of having measures in place to monitor car hire records in the various EU countries?
