Addressing the Austrian Parliament today, the UN Secretary-General expressed great concern at the restrictions being imposed by European countries on refugees and migrants.

In view of this:

Can the Commission say how it intends to respond to the growing wave of right-wing extremist and xenophobic sentiment within the EU on the one hand and to calls for a humanitarian response to the refugee crisis on the other?
