As a follow-up to the vague answers the Commission provided to the Written Question E-001293/2016 ‘EU transport projects: Baltic Railway from Helsinki to Vilnius’.

1. Can the Commission inform the taxpayers paying for this project, when exactly the first stage of the project between Warsaw and Vilnius will be fully opened as it was due to open in July 2015?

2. As a multi-billion Euro project, what accountability mechanisms have been put in place, with whom does that accountability lie, and what penalties are there for those who fail to meet deadlines and go over budget?

3. If there are no current plans for EU funding for the extension to Vilnius, as I have been informed by the Commission, how can they guarantee the line will be complete by December 2024?
