Article 24 of Regulation (EU) No 1051/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 October 2013 provides for a procedure for the temporary reintroduction of border control at the internal borders of the Union. Article 25 of the same Regulation provides for a specific procedure in cases requiring immediate action.

Denmark, France, Sweden, Norway, Austria and Germany have all invoked these articles to reintroduce controls at their national borders and have asked the Commission for an extension in the use of these articles.

An extension of the special measures provided for in Articles 24 and 25 would be tantamount to the suspension of the Schengen agreements and consequently a violation of the fundamental rights of European citizens.

In light of the above, can the Commission say:
