VP/HR — Murder of Mohamed Fadel uld Jatri uld Ahnan

Question for written answer E-006628-16
to the Commission (Vice-President/High Representative)
Rule 130
Paloma López Bermejo (GUE/NGL)

According to international media reports, on 10 August a young Sahrawi man, Mohamed Fadel uld Jatri uld Ahnan, was murdered by a Moroccan colonist. The brutal circumstances surrounding this crime and the ineffective response on the part of the occupying authorities bring to mind the Haidala case (E-002162-15) where colonists terrorised the Sahrawi population with impunity, prompted by the Moroccan regime in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara. As a consequence, a number of peaceful protests have been staged in Dajla, although the Moroccan occupying authorities have come down heavily in response.

Is the Vice-President/High Representative aware of this situation?

What steps will she take to ensure that there is a fair and impartial investigation into the murder?

Will she also issue an official protest against the disproportionate crackdown against the demonstrators in Dajla?
