Status of fish stocks in the Mediterranean

to the Commission
Rule 130
Ruža Tomašić (ECR)
There are widespread concerns regarding the status of fish stocks in the Mediterranean, particularly as regards certain species whose stocks are constantly diminishing.
Excessive fishing is not the main reason for the current situation, but rather poor management, shortcomings in existing regulations, various types of pollution, traffic and climate change have had a significant impact on the current situation of stocks in the Mediterranean.
Could the Commission therefore explain what specific actions and measures it is taking in order to assess the impact of the activities of various sectors — excluding fishing — on significantly reducing fish stocks in the Mediterranean?
