On Wednesday 12 October, Stavros Lambrinidis attended the Subcommittee on Human Rights. During his address to the participants, Mr Lambrinidis spoke of his visits to Havana where he was denied authorisation from the Cuban Government to meet freely with certain members of Cuban civil society. On this subject, I ask for clarification from the VP/HR in the form of answers to the following questions:
- 1.During Mr Lambrinidis’ most recent trips to Cuba, who did he meet?
- 2.Who did the Cuban authorities not allow him to meet?
- 3.What was his reaction to being denied access to certain persons, in light of the context of his visit focused on human rights reforms in Cuba?
