The consumer association UFC-Que Choisir has just published a list of almost 400 everyday products that contain ‘one or more undesirable ingredients’ such as the endocrine disruptors BHA, butylparaben and propylparaben.
The association deplores the fact that the definitions of endocrine disrupter proposed by the Commission ‘require a level of proof so high that in practice no substance would be prohibited’.
In view of the above, will the Commission say:
- 1.What measures does it intend to take in order to truly protect European citizens from endocrine disrupters?
- 2.Will it provide a stricter framework for claims on labels such as ‘hypoallergenic’ or ‘paraben-free’?
