Need to Create University Chairs in European Studies

I believe that instead of complaining about euro-scepticism and the fact that the peoples of Europe are being misinformed about what the European Union really is, the EU institutions should take specific effective initiatives in order genuinely and substantively to promote the European idea.

I consider it very important that these initiatives should primarily target young people and strongly believe that the universities are an important starting point for promoting the European idea.

I therefore propose that the EU should begin by establishing a Chair of European Studies at a major academic institution in each Member State with a view to creating an increasing number of such university Chairs.
