On 14 February 2017, the European Parliament adopted a report on promoting gender equality in mental health and clinical research, emphasising the need for an ambitious follow-up to the European Joint Action Plan on Mental Health and Wellbeing, which puts gender equality at the heart of a psychosocial strategy for Europe. Such an action plan needs to be comprehensive, tailoring targeted policies for vulnerable groups most in need, and requiring coherence among policy areas.

1. What steps has the Commission taken, or what steps does it intend to take, to implement the recommendations of the report of Parliament, and within what timeframe?

2. What work is being done across Directorates-General in the Commission to ensure gender mainstreaming and policy coherence on mental health issues?

3. What steps will the Commission take to encourage Member States to adopt more ambitious gender-sensitive mental health and wellbeing strategies?
